Emmy-nominated series produced by NFL Films and ESPN+ will return with 15 new episodes

Expected to debut Thanksgiving weekend and culminate Super Bowl weekend
Peyton Manning will return to host a second season of the popular and Emmy-nominated football-themed docuseries Peyton’s Places this fall, exclusively on ESPN+. The 15-episode season will once again feature Peyton exploring football’s history and cultural impact through conversations with players, coaches and other key figures. The season is expected to debut Thanksgiving weekend with two new episodes per week, culminating Super Bowl weekend in February 2021.

The 30-episode original season of Peyton’s Places was a signature program during the National Football League’s 100th season celebration in 2019. Peyton visited with Hall of Fame players, coaches, celebrities and more – taking fans of the game through some of the stories that helped make football what it is today. Highlights included a discussion with Tom Brady over golf, a conversation with the NFL’s all-time winningest coach Don Shula and members of his undefeated ‘72 Dolphins, and a touch football game at Elvis Presley’s Graceland residence in Memphis.

Peyton’s Places will again be produced by NFL Films in collaboration with ESPN+. All 30 episodes of the original series are available on ESPN+, the leading direct-to-consumer sports streaming service.

Peyton, an executive producer, will again work with a team of NFL Films senior producers to choose the people, places and stories in the series. “In preparing for Season one, we identified so many interesting stories but didn’t have enough time to tell even a fraction of them. I’m thrilled to bring the show back to ESPN+ for a second season so we can continue to dive into the great history of the NFL.”

In addition to Peyton’s Places, Peyton Manning has collaborated with ESPN+, NFL Films and Kobe Bryant’s award-winning Granity Studios since 2018 on an NFL edition of Detail, the ground-breaking X’s and O’s sports analysis program which airs exclusively on ESPN+. The two-time Super Bowl champion and five-time NFL MVP voiced ESPN and ABC’s ‘Hope’ themed open to the 2020 NFL Draft telecast, and he also hosted the 25th ESPYS on ABC in 2017.

First look revealed for new half-hour coming-of-age drama series featuring original music from Sara Bareilles

Apple unveiled a first look at “Little Voice,” a fresh, intensely romantic tale from the award-winning team of J.J. Abrams, Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson that will premiere globally on Apple TV+, alongside a slate of acclaimed original series and films, on Friday, July 10. Apple TV+ also revealed the first-look image for the highly anticipated series.

A love letter to the diverse musicality of New York starring Brittany O’Grady, Sean Teale, Colton Ryan, Shalini Bathina, Kevin Valdez, Phillip Johnson Richardson and Chuck Cooper, “Little Voice” follows Bess King (O’Grady), a uniquely talented performer struggling to fulfill her dreams while navigating rejection, love and complicated family issues. Featuring original music by Grammy and Tony Award nominee Sara Bareilles, this is a story about finding your authentic voice — and the courage to use it.

“Little Voice” is produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. J.J. Abrams (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “Star Trek,” “Lost”), Sara Bareilles, Jessie Nelson (“I Am Sam,” “Stepmom,” “Waitress”) and Ben Stephenson (“Westworld”) are executive producers. Nelson also wrote and directed the first episode.

The new series will join a lineup of award-winning and hit original series on Apple TV+ including “Defending Jacob,” “Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet,” and the Golden Globe-nominated and Critics Choice and SAG award-winning series “The Morning Show”; as well as the soon-to-premiere animated musical comedy series “Central Park” from Emmy Award winner Loren Bouchard alongside “Frozen” Grammy winner Josh Gad and Emmy winner Nora Smith; “Dear…,” a new docuseries from Emmy and Peabody Award winner R.J. New data from Roy Morgan shows Disney Plus continuing its stellar growth with over 2 million Australians now viewing the newest subscription television service after only four months.

As a comparison it took market leader Netflix six months from launching in Australia in March 2015 to attract over 2 million viewers.

Overall Netflix has extended its lead as by far the nation’s most watched subscription television service in the March quarter 2020, with 12.59 million Australians having access, an increase of 1,068,000 on a year ago. It is followed by Foxtel (including Kayo Sports) on 4.87 million (+63,000) and Stan on 3.72 million (+953,000).

The small increase in viewership for Foxtel is entirely due to the strong performance of their sports-centric streaming service Kayo Sports which attracted 704,000 viewers by March 2020, up by 530,000 on a year ago.

Disney Plus, which only entered the Australian market in late November 2019, now has over 2 million viewers, placing it in fourth position ahead of Amazon Prime Video on 1.6 million (+1,017,000) and YouTube Premium on 1.47 million (+161,000).

When it comes to multiple subscription television services, Netflix plus Stan is the most popular combination with over 3.4 million Australians having access to both just ahead of Netflix plus Foxtel (3.1 million).

This new data comes from Roy Morgan Single Source, Australia’s most comprehensive consumer survey, derived from in-depth interviews with over 50,000 Australians each year.

At a time when Foxtel has announced a new service, Roy Morgan CEO Michele Levine says that the explosive growth of Disney Plus shows Australians are eager to explore new options in the expanding subscription television market:

“The growth of subscription television services in Australia sped up in March as the nation entered a period of lockdown. In the year to March 2020 an additional 1.05 million Australians gained access to a subscription television service in their household. This is a larger annual increase than we reported a month ago. In the year to February 2020 the annual increase had been 893,000.

“The increasing growth in the overall market has been predicted by many as Australians have been confined to their homes over the last two months and these results are the first to back up that prediction.

“Another facet to this growth in viewership is that different members of the same household are able to have their own subscriptions to different services which they can then share with other householders. As Australians have been ‘locked down’ the ability to share multiple services has increased viewership for different services within the market.

“The immediate success of Disney Plus provides an example of how new entrants to the market can gain a large share of existing viewers as well as contributing to a growth in the overall market at the same time. Of Disney Plus’ 2 million viewers a large majority of 1.67 million (83%) are already viewers of Netflix and 897,000 (45%) already watch Stan.

“The latest results show there are millions of Australian households with two, or three, or even more subscription television services. Foxtel’s launch next week of a new cut-price streaming service to go head-to-head against Netflix, Stan and Disney Plus does raise the risk of ‘cannibalising’ Foxtel’s existing revenue streams, but also sets Foxtel up take a share of the growing market of consumers increasingly gravitating towards low-cost services that offer extensive and deep catalogues.”

This Friday’s derby between Hertha BSC and 1 FC Union Berlin will be live on DAZN

After the re-start of the Bundesliga last weekend, DAZN has today extended its partnership with the DFL to show multiple live matches from the competition on the sports streaming service in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, until the end of the season.

The next match is this Friday, with the highly-anticipated derby in the capital between Hertha BSC and Union Berlin. Kick-off is at 20:30 with DAZN’s presentation beginning at 20:15 CET. Lukas Schönmüller will present the programme, with punditry from Ralph Gunesch and Uli Hebel is the commentator. Alexander Schlüter will conduct pitch-side interviews at the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The Bundesliga continues on DAZN on Sunday 24 May, with the game between FC Schalke 04 and FC Augsburg.
