OnePlus, the global technology company, announced the appointment of Siddhant Narayan as Head of Marketing for India. In his new role, Siddhant will be responsible for elevating the brand’s position by spearheading the marketing strategy with the aim of establishing a deeper connection and increasing the brand salience with the Indian consumer.

Siddhant will lead the brand’s ongoing marketing efforts to build its connected ecosystem business in India. He will play a crucial role towards strengthening OnePlus’ brand positioning, media and creative strategies, along with its community culture and engagement.

Prior to joining OnePlus, Siddhant was the Marketing Head for the Indian subcontinent at Daniel Wellington, where he launched the brand in India and created an omni-channel marketing strategy. Siddhant also worked as Head of Brand Story at Reliance Jio, and was an integral part of Nike’s Marketing team, wherein he contributed immensely towards creating global and regional brand campaigns to bring alive the spirit of the iconic sports brand in India.

He is an alumnus of the MIT School of Business, Pune, and holds a degree in advertising and PR from the renowned Welingkar Institute of Management, Mumbai. Siddhant was a professional cricketer during his early days and continues to be passionate about sport and fitness.

Tata leads with 30 brands featured; Godrej 11; Amul, Reliance, LG & have 9 each

South Korean electronics giant Samsung wins the crown in TRA’s Most Desired Brands 2020, making it a fourth time victory in six editions of the report. The brand also led the list in 2018, 2015 and 2013 reports as well. Technology giant Apple takes the 2nd place up one rank from last year, having climbed steadily over the years from rank 290 in 2015 to the exalted place this year. Samsung features again at 3rd rank in the Consumer Electronics Category. Sony TV, the GEC channel is a debut entry and rises by an impressive 594 ranks to occupy the 4th position this year followed by Maruti Suzuki at 5th. The Austin-based laptop maker Dell secures 6th rank; Samsung in Televisions at 7th, Amul Milk at 8th, Honda Activa at 9th and Hyundai at 10th follow sequentially. The MDB 2020 list has 394 new brand entries which did not feature in the last edition.

N. Chandramouli, CEO, TRA Research, said at the launch of the report, “Desire is a longing for a brand irrespective of its need, and the success of a brand is highly dependent on the desire quotient it emanates. The brands which feature in this list have been able to exude a deep magnetic pull that impacts the consumer at a subliminal level. TRA’s syndicated research is based on our proprietary Brand Desire Matrix which measures consumers’ expressions of desire on 36 intangible attributes of a brand”. MDB 2020 lists 1000 brands across 326 Categories and 39 Super-Categories.

The F&B Category has 159 brands in the report and FMCG features 129, totaling 28.8% of the listing. Automobile features 75 brands, Consumer Electronics lists 59 and BFSI & Personal Accessories have 56 brands each. The Fashion-to-Financial Services conglomerate, Tata Group, leads with 29 brands featured, of which ten are Category leaders. Godrej Group has 11 brands listed with three Category leaders and Amul gets 9 brands included in the report of which eight top respective Categories.

Indian brands dominate the top 100 of India’s Most Desired list featuring 42 brands, followed by 15 American, 12 Japanese and 11 South Korean brands. 6 German brands also feature of which three luxury car brands dominate the list. 4 UK brands make it to top 100, and the three Chinese brands which are included in the list are from the Mobile Phone category.

Creativity From The Other Side was launched in early January by NYF’s Advertising Awards Executive Director Scott Rose. “I was lucky enough to have a coffee meeting with David Sable and get to pick his brain on how to better align NYFA with the ever-changing world of advertising,” said Rose. “The fact that we’ve now been able to team up and produce videos where he uses his casual, but formidable interview skills to shine a light on the process and creativity of fellow legends and soon to be legends, is an honor.”

Keith Reinhard - Chairman Emeritus, DDB Worldwide gave birth to the Hamburglar and was responsible for McDonald's "You Deserve a Break Today" and for the Big Mac tongue twister, "Two-all-beef-patties-special-sauce-lettuce-cheese-pickles-onions, on a sesame seed bun." Mr. Reinhard penned State Farm's long-running theme, "Just Like a Good Neighbor, State Farm Is There." In 1999 Advertising Age named "You Deserve a Break Today" the best advertising jingle of the 20th century and one of the century's top-five campaigns. Under Reinhard's creative leadership, his agency produced award-winning work for Volkswagen, Anheuser-Busch, Frito-Lay, Dell Computer, JC Penney, Ameriquest and many others.

Martin Puris - Chief Executive Officer, Puris & Partners is chairman and chief executive officer for Puris & Partners. His classic line for BMW, "The Ultimate Driving Machine" still defines the luxury car today, over thirty years later. Puris wrote "The Antidote for Civilization" for Club Med, a campaign that changed the look and feel of the whole travel category and the campaign for UPS, "We Run the Tightest Ship in the Shipping Business," reinforced the brand's commitment to efficiency. Puris in addition creating well-crafted, intelligent advertising for such clients as RCA, Schweppes, Nikon, Compaq, Burger King, Sony, Aetna, Reebok and served as media advisor to President George H. W. Bush in both Presidential Campaigns.

The NVIDIA DRIVE ecosystem is developing fully autonomous, shared vehicles for safer, more efficient transportation.

From pedicabs to yellow cabs, hailing rides has been a decades-long convenience. App-based services like Uber and Lyft have made on-demand travel even faster and easier.

With the advent of autonomous vehicles, ride-hailing promises to raise the bar on safety and efficiency. Known as robotaxis, these shared vehicles are purpose-built for transporting groups of people along optimized routes, without a human driver at the wheel.

The potential for a shared autonomous mobility industry is enormous. Financial services company UBS estimates that robotaxis could create a $2 trillion market globally over the next decade, with each vehicle generating as much as $27,000 annually.

In dense urban environments, like New York City, experts project that a taxi fleet converted to entirely autonomous vehicles could cut down commutes in some areas from 40 minutes to 15.

On top of the economic and efficiency benefits, autonomous vehicles are never distracted or drowsy. And they can run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, expanding mobility access to more communities.

To transform everyday transportation, the NVIDIA DRIVE ecosystem is gearing up with a new wave of electric, autonomous vehicles.

Up for Cabs

Building a new kind of vehicle from square one requires a fresh perspective. That’s why a crop of startups and technology companies have begun to invest in the idea of a shared car without a steering wheel or pedals.

Already transporting riders in Florida and San Jose, Calif. retirement communities, Voyage is deploying low-speed autonomous vehicles with the goal of widely expanding safe mobility. The company is using DRIVE AGX to operate its SafeStop supercharged automatic braking system in its current fleet of vehicles.

Optimus Ride is a Boston-based self-driving technology company developing systems for geo-fenced environments — pre-defined areas of operation, like a city center or shipping yard.

Its electric, autonomous vehicles run on the high-performance, energy-efficient NVIDIA DRIVE platform, and were the first such vehicles to run in NYC as part of a pilot launched in August.

Leveraging the performance of NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Pegasus, which can achieve up to 320 trillion operations per second, smart mobility startup WeRide is developing level 4 autonomous vehicles to provide accessible transportation to a wide range of passengers.

Starting from scratch, self-driving startup and DRIVE ecosystem member Zoox is developing a purpose-built vehicle for on-demand, autonomous transportation. Its robotaxi encompasses a futuristic vision of everyday mobility, able to drive in both directions. Both Zoox and WeRide are members of the NVIDIA Inception program, which nurtures cutting-edge AI startups revolutionizing industries such as transportation.

Zoox says it plans to launch its zero-emissions vehicle for testing this year, followed by an autonomous taxi service.

At GTC China in December, ride-hailing giant Didi Chuxing announced it was developing level 4 autonomous vehicles for its mobility services using NVIDIA DRIVE and AI technology. Delivering 10 billion passenger trips per year, DiDi is working toward the safe, large-scale application of autonomous driving technology.

Sharing Expertise for Shared Mobility

When it comes to industry-changing innovations, sometimes two (or three) heads are better than one.

Global automakers, suppliers and startups are also working to solve the question of shared autonomous mobility, collaborating on their own visions of the robotaxi of the future.

In December, Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler and global supplier Bosch launched the first phase of their autonomous ride-hailing pilot in San Jose. The app-based service shuttles customers in an automated Mercedes-Benz S-Class monitored by a safety driver.

The companies are collaborating with NVIDIA to eventually launch a robotaxi powered by NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Pegasus.

Across the pond, autonomous vehicle solution provider and Inception member AutoX and Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer NEVS are working to deploy robotaxis in Europe by the end of this year.

The companies, which came together through the NVIDIA DRIVE ecosystem, are developing an electric autonomous vehicle based on NEVS’ mobility-focused concept and powered by NVIDIA DRIVE. The goal of this collaboration is to bring these safe and efficient technologies to everyday transportation around the world.

Startup Pony.AI is also part of the Inception program and collaborating with global automakers such as Toyota and Hyundai, developing a robotaxi fleet with the NVIDIA DRIVE AGX platform at its core.
