MY FM's fight against single use plastic takes a dramatic turn
MY FM- the Radio arm of DB Corp ltd, has pledged to make India Plastic free with its on-going campaign 'Plastic Bharat Choro', an activity to address the issue of plastic usage in the country. The campaign aims to increase awareness about the benefits of a ‘no plastic’ life, to sensitize and involve all stakeholders for helping each other to create a greener India, and persuade the community to adapt an eco-friendly lifestyle by junking single use plastic. RJ Kartik, the most followed RJ in India, took the initiative a step further and literally trapped himself inside plastic for 50 hours!
The move was a part of the "Plastic Bharat Choro" campaign and was done in order to sensitize people about the seriousness of this issue. People witnessed a one of its kind exclusive studio made out of used plastic bottles with RJ Kartik going live for 50 hours continuously, without taking a single break. The activity was aired across all the stations of MY FM.
More than 20,000 people joined the campaign and took a pledge of leading a plastic-free life. Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore came in support for the activity on-ground. RJ Kartik and other RJ’s were live on their Facebook page during studio making, execution, and closing ceremony of the campaign. A lot people came and join, they did all sorts of stuff to keep the RJ motivated and engaged for this good cause and also to extend support right from singing, dancing to open Mic and poetry sessions. A lot of budding artists, rappers, and local bands were also present to support and cheer.
RJ Kartik, MY FM said "It is really sad that we humans have gathered huge plastic waste that is not only harming us but also the other living beings in the country. We all should come together and support NO plastic use. We at MY FM have started this campaign in order to bring a change in our society and spread awareness on it.
Speaking on the campaign, Rahul Namjoshi COO, MY FM said "One of biggest environmental problem is Plastic and we are the reason for it. We at MY FM consider our responsibility to spread awareness about the ill-effects of plastic. This is our way to support the government and make our nation a plastic free country. We hope that our initiative brings a bit of a change in the society and we will continue to organize such activities in future as well”
