RED FM Launches Public Toilet Locator App in Indore

Amongst the many out of the box initiatives by RED FM, India’s largest radio network 93.5 RED FM, recently launched a public toilet locator app called the “EK No.” in Indore, which gives directions to the nearest toilet in a particular area of the city. Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, honourable Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh launched the app encouraging the citizen to maintain sanitation and hygiene in the city by combating the menace of peeing in the public. Honorable Speaker Mrs Sumitra Mahajan, Central minister Mr Nitin Gadgari and Indore Mayor Mrs Malini Lakshman Singh Gaur were also present in the event.

Earlier RED FM came up with a unique campaign called Deewal Pe Bawaal in Indore, highlighting important civic issues, which culminated into several wall graffitis on the popular walls of the city. As part of ‘Deewal Pe Bawaal’, RED FM intended to spread awareness on issues like air pollution, road safety and driving, importance of plantations in the neighbourhood, problems of littering etc.

The role of public toilets is very important as it ensures well-being of the society contributing towards public health and also curbs spreading of many diseases. Being a socially aware FM Channel, RED FM developed this app with the help of a team of young app developers from ‘Wow communication’, an app development company based out of Indore. It took three months for the developers and the RED FM team to bring the app in its initial avatar.

Commenting on the initiative, Nisha Narayanan, COO, 93.5 RED FM, said: “We are constantly looking for opportunities to unbox radio for our listeners, create more touchpoints for our ardent followers and offer meaningful engagement. The fact that the ministry readily agreed to launch it and encouraged us to take similar initiatives in other states as well speaks a great deal about our efforts. This app can be downloaded for free by android users from Google Play Store.”

As a part of the promotional activity of the app, RED FM has planned to spread awareness message through their special programmes on- air, where they will ask their listeners to download the app and use the toilets in the city. Also the RJs will urge the users to share their feedback on the condition of public toilets through the app itself. Later their feedback will be collected and shared with the Municipal department, to improve the conditions of public toilets in the city.
