Joins hands with Akshay Patra Foundation to create awareness about mid-day meals programme

India’s foremost Hindi business news channel CNBC–Awaaz is continuing its 12-year-old legacy in successfully educating its viewers about issues that matter to them. The channel has chosen India’s 70th Independence Day as the occasion to create awareness and encourage people to donate towards a mid-day meal of a child. The channel has partnered with Akshay Patra, an NGO that has been working extensively on implementing the mid-day meal programme across different schools in India.

Alok Joshi, Managing Editor, CNBC Awaaz says, “CNBC Awaaz is committed to offering its viewers information and advice that impacts their lives positively. In the same direction, this Independence Day, we bring to our viewers the experience and spirit of freedom from hunger by associating with Akshay Patra and use our programming and reach to engage viewers in the noble task of sponsoring mid-day meals for children. Our team of anchors and reporters consider this as a social commitment towards the society and are excited about the partnership.”

Commenting on the partnership, Shridhar Venkat, CEO Akshaya Patra Foundation said, “The Akshaya Patra Foundation has been championing the cause of ‘food for education’ for the last 17 years. We have witnessed the lives of children transform as they stop worrying about their meal and focus on studies. The success of our school-lunch programme lies in the success of our children. Our partnership with CNBC-AWAAZ for the ‘Bhookh Se Azaadi’ campaign is a step to ensure that every child in India attends school regularly and dreams of a bright future.”
